Dr. Dweck’s Books

The Complete A to Z for Your V

Everything you always wanted to know about being a woman, but didn’t know whom to ask. Breaking the mold on women’s health guides, The Complete A to Z for Your V tells women of all ages what they need to know about their own unique health as a woman. Whether you are researching a specific issue or just want a go-to reference for yourself, your daughter, your niece, or your partner, this book offers it all in a friendly, illustrated format from an expert in the field of women’s health.

The book covers every topic the author, a well-respected OB/GYN with over 20 years of experience in practice, has been asked about in her career. This is the doctor’s guide for the laywoman, and it pulls no punches when talking about sex, shaving, what’s “normal,” vibrators, STDs, and beyond. The friendly and funny voice along with accessible illustrations make subjects that normally make people squirm easy and enjoyable to read about. The author’s focus is to make women feel comfortable and empowered in their bodies, which makes this book stand out from the dryer medical guides. Women’s health is a topic that is now more out in the open for discussion than ever before, and The Complete A to Z For Your V makes finding the answers easy and asking the questions even easier.

V Is for Vagina

You might expect a book about the vagina to be clinical, boring, or bordering on XXX. That’s not the case with V is for Vagina: You’re A to Z Guide to Periods, Piercings, Pleasures and So Much More.  This paperback about the most private part of a woman’s body delivers medically-sound, comprehensive information in a hip, fun, and fascinating format. It’s hugely accessible to women, whether 18 or 88.

Co-authored by OB/GYN Dr. Alyssa Dweck and sex/relationship über author Robin Westen, V is for Vagina sheds light on the most misunderstood part of a woman’s body. From Kegels to cunnilingus, and self-exams to semen allergies, V Is for Vagina delivers the good, the bad, and the time-for-the-pharmacy truths – even about subjects you might be too embarrassed to discuss with your gynecologist. Topics are at times controversial but written about in an easy-to-read, conversational style, making the book the go-to guide for all things vagina.

Take the entertaining quiz at the beginning of the book to rate your V expertise. Do you have supreme knowledge of your Lady Flower or are you totally in the dark about your Cha Cha? (Most women are somewhere in between!)

Check out the book’s alphabetized chapters from A (A & G Spot and Every Erogenous Zone You’ve Ever Imagined) to Z (Zen Appreciation… Nurturing the Mind-V Connection), or use it as a reference guide to answer specific questions. However you choose to read it, you’ll become better acquainted with your Lady Flower while learning how to keep that amazing organ healthy and happy.

Q&A with Dr. Alyssa Dweck

Q: Why did you write V Is For Vagina?
Dr. Dweck: Over the years, I found myself cornered in the grocery store aisle, sidelined at the gym, stopped in the street and even questioned on social media about ob/gyn issues. Rather than talk labioplasty on the treadmill or yeast infection in the produce aisle, I wanted to get the word out and educate women about their vaginas in an easy-to-read, non-threatening and down-to earth way.  Collaborating with co-author Robin Westen, my goal was to share medically-sound advice in a format that’s hip, humorous, and fascinating!

QWhat special perspective do you lend to your books?
Dr. Dweck: I’ve been a practicing ob/gyn for three decades and have had the pleasure of delivering thousands of babies and providing care to women of all ages. While some of the material in my books is presented in a lighthearted style, rest assured that the information provided is medically solid and stems from the experiences I’ve been fortunate enough to share with my patients.

Q: Who will benefit from your vagina books?
Dr. Dweck:  The book is intended for women of all ages, from late teens through menopause. Whether you are fearful and shy or just curious and excited, both V is for Vagina and The Complete A to Z for your V help answer just about every question you can think of when it comes to the “V”.

Q:  How should women use the books?
Dr. Dweck: Women are welcome to read these books from beginning to end, or they can choose to use it as a reference guide to answer particular questions they may have. For example, college coeds might flip to the chapters on sexually transmitted diseases and birth control, while more mature women may home in on information regarding the best ways to deal with menopausal symptoms. The books also lend themselves to book club and dormitory discussion.

Q:  Is there any “V” topic that even you are uncomfortable discussing?
Dr. Dweck: At this point, there is not much left to surprise, shock, or make me feel uncomfortable so bring it on! That’s why I’ve made it a point to include chapters that discuss more taboo topics like vaginal rejuvenation and sex toys, along with piercing, dyeing, and “vattooing” the “V”. The goal of the books is to help answer as many questions about the vagina as possible.

Q:  What’s next?
Dr. Dweck: I’m working on that …. Stay tuned!
